Aloe Vera Hair Oil

Stand mature aloe vera leaf vertically in a cup for 15 minutes to allow the yellow aloin sap to drain out completely. Slice off the bottom ½ inch, discard sap, wash leaf under cold water, and pat completely dry.

Trim off spiky side edges. Slice off top flat green skin to expose clear inner gel. Cut or spoon out clear gel into small, uniform cubes.

Place extracted aloe gel cubes into a small, dry saucepan. Pour 1 cup coconut or olive oil directly over aloe, ensuring pieces are submerged.

Place saucepan over low heat and bring to a gentle simmer. As water inside aloe boils off, oil will bubble actively. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking, maintaining low heat for 20 to 30 minutes.

Watch closely: when active bubbling stops entirely and the pan goes quiet, all water has evaporated. The aloe pieces will be shriveled, crisp, and translucent-brown. Remove from heat immediately and cool to room temperature.

Pour cooled oil through a double layer of cheesecloth or fine-mesh strainer into a clean, bone-dry glass jar or dropper bottle, then seal tightly.
